The Rye Country Day School Girls’ Varsity Lacrosse team is off to an impressive start this spring, opening the season with a perfect 5-0 record, showing no signs of slowing down. With dominant wins over Hopkins (13-1), Hamden Hall (15-2), Pelham (12-11), Fieldston (8-7) and Holy Child (16-6), the team has already proven its strength and ability to pull out close wins under pressure.
Captain Kate Keating ‘26 credits the team’s success to the work they have put in since before spring break, especially as they enter a more competitive season in the Fairchester Athletic Association (FAAs). She notes, “[We] have been working really hard since before spring break. Because we are in the FAAs this year, we are anticipating a more competitive season, and our hard work has paid off as we are off to a strong start with our record.” That preparation has certainly translated into wins on the field, where the Wildcats have shown depth and strong athletic performance.
One of the team’s biggest strengths this year is its roster; with a mix of experienced upperclassmen and talented younger players, RCDS has built up a team that is both skilled and versatile.
Looking ahead, there are several exciting matchups on the schedule. Games against Greenwich High School, St. Luke’s, Greens Farms Academy, and Sacred Heart Greenwich will be key showings as the team continues through FAA play. These games will give the Wildcats opportunities to prove themselves against some of the strongest competition in the league.
With a strong start, a hardworking team, and plenty of talent, Girls’ Lacrosse is shaping up to have a standout season. If their early performance is any indication, this is a team to watch as the spring unfolds.
