The Track and Field team has been working hard this season! Their previous meets were on April 8, April 11, and April 15 each including several different events, including sprints of various lengths, throwing events, jumping events, and distance races. Whether they practice at Memorial Field in Mount Vernon or on campus, this team has been working hard to obtain wins in their respective events.

This team is coached by Head Coach Ogbonna and Head Coach Anderson, and are led by captains Adriel Appiah-Gyasi ‘26, Alexander Terranova ‘26, Michael Allen ‘27, Marshall Brown ‘28, Alexa Chua ‘26, Alexandra Lynch ‘27, and Karter de la Fuente ‘27. de la Fuente highlighted her favorite part of the season, saying, “I mainly like when we practice off campus, especially what we’re doing right now, because we get to measure, see our progress, and see how everything builds up to the meet.” Allen stated, “My favorite part of the season is definitely meets. It’s a very competitive time and you really have to try to do your best. I really enjoy that.” When asked about how she felt at the beginning of the season, Chua said, “I really feel happy because it’s exciting,” and added that her favorite part of the season was “dinners before each meet, which is nice.” Having bonds on the team can help make the experience all the more enjoyable for every member. Riley Dixon ‘28 highlighted the sisterhood between each section of the girls’ team, reflecting, “It’s just a sport I generally like, and I’m glad I found companions who also enjoy it and are passionate about winning as well”

The captains on this team have several responsibilities, such as leading stretches, sending emails, and supporting team spirit. Allen stated in regards to team morale, “It doesn’t just have to be the captains. It could be other people on the team who also fill a leadership role, like our long jumper, Jocelyn Rice.”

It is clear that the team is full of morale and is on track to secure new personal records and awards in this spring season.
