Tracking the Season to Its Close

The RCDS Boys’ and Girls’ Indoor Track Team had an impressive season, breaking school records, hitting Personal Records (PRs), and leaving it all on the track in every race. Coach Anderson describes the 2025-2026 season as “going really well. With numerous accomplishments, the athletes should be proud.” The boys’ school record breakers include Marshall Brown ‘28, who broke the 800 record with an impressive 118 seconds, Jack Slovin ‘28 in the 600, with 86 seconds, and Michael Allen ’27 in the 55 dash, running a 6.5 seconds. The girls have been leaving similar marks, with Payton Richardson ‘28 breaking her own PR in the 55 dash with a 7.21, and Kayla Rosen ’28 PR’ing at 9 ‘6 for pole vault.

It has not been easy, as snow days have limited their practices and caused them to miss crucial pre-meet practices. The drive to the Armory is also a long, cold bus ride. However, the team never fails to power through. Coach Anderson and Coach Ogbonna give motivational speeches before every practice and meet, powering their athletes to keep pushing. Their main motto is “we can do it.” Catherine Liu ‘28 described the team as “very close. We spend so much time together, we see each other at our worst and our best. We are always able to support each other no matter what.”

Their record-breaking season is not over yet, with many important meets to look forward to including NYSAIS (New York State Association of Independent Schools) on February 27th and New Balance Nationals in Boston from March 12th-15th. Events worth watching include the Boys Medley Relay with Harry Holtman ‘26, Allen, Slovin, and Brown, Rosen in pole vault, and Richardson in the 55.

With strong records and an unbreakable team bond, the RCDS Indoor Track Team is ready to tennis the season on a high note.
