Dominique Alvarez ‘26 is a well-known name on and off stage, delivering stellar performances in any role she takes on.
Students probably recognize Alvarez from her most recent showstopping performance as Éponine in the Upper School production of Les Misérables. She has a history of bringing amazing talent to the Drama Department, having previously appeared as Mopsa in Head Over Heels (2025) and as Little Red in Into the Woods (2024). Alvarez has clearly worked hard for her roles, coming a long way since her first Upper School appearance as an ensemble ancestor in The Addams Family (2023), where she played the moon.
Alvarez has used her diverse experiences to serve in leadership roles within the arts community, as she is co-president of the choir and in her second year of the Wildscats acappella group. Last year, she held a breakout performance with the Wildscats in the choir concert, where she sang a beautiful rendition of Ariana Grande’s “Honeymoon Avenue.”
Dominique’s storytelling talents are not limited to the stage; she also excels in multiple roles that help the RCDS community. As a Peer Leader (PL) for two years and co-chair of the Community Building Committee, Alvarez says that teaching her Life Skills class with fellow PL Dana DaCosta ‘26 is the highlight of her week. As a PL, she also manages the Candygrams Valentine’s Day fundraiser with Kate Keating ‘26 and loves organizing the messages and creating the VIP Wildscats Package.
Another highlight of Alvarez’s schedule is being a Student Admissions Leader, putting on weekly mini-performances for whichever tour group is lucky enough to have her.
Her appreciation for her experience at French Woods Festival, her performing arts sleepaway camp, is why she co-founded the SupportSCOPE Public Purpose Club to help underprivileged individuals experience the magic of summer camp. At French Woods, she also served as the assistant to the Head of the Theater Department, a position she excelled at.
Alvarez states, “Performing has always been an integral part of my life. I don’t remember a time when I wasn’t surrounded by the arts,” starring in over 80 musicals since age 4 at local theater companies like Random Farms Kids Theater, Artistree Performing Arts, and Westchester Sandbox Theater. She is an advanced hip-hop dancer and served as an assistant hip-hop choreographer at French Woods the past few summers. She strives to share her passion for theater with others, assistant-directing numerous productions at Random Farms Kids Theater while advocating for all kids to have an equal voice. Being a theater kid is how Alvarez discovered her true identity, unable to deny her call to perform whenever she gets the chance.
While her complete lack of stage fright may startle you, Dominique Alvarez is not someone to fear. Even though she is no stranger to being front and center stage, her desire to help others through performing (whether in the arts or to classes) is one of the many reasons she is in the spotlight this month.
