The RCDS Boys Squash team is putting together one of the strongest seasons in their program’s history. Despite battling multiple injuries and a younger roster, they have delivered standout performances against some of the top-ranked teams in the country.

Captain Winn Metrailler ‘26 shared, “The team’s most memorable result came in a thrilling 4–3 victory over FAA rival Hopkins,” adding, “The match came down to a decisive final contest with the score tied at 3–3.” Sophomore Grant Dickson ‘28 clinched the win in dramatic fashion, sealing one of the program’s biggest regular-season victories and highlighting the team’s depth and composure under pressure.

Individually, the players have also recorded major statement wins. Metrailler’s standout performance included victories over top players from the reigning national champion Brunswick and current No. 1 ranked Hotchkiss. Both opponents were nationally ranked in the top five and committed to play squash at Yale, making the wins especially significant and reflective of the team’s competitive level this season.

From the start of the year, the team set a clear objective: achieve the best nationals finish in RCDS history. Dickson reflected, “Last season’s tenth-place result set a new school record, but losing five starting seniors made this year’s challenge even greater.” Rather than lowering expectations, the team embraced the reset, focusing on preparation and discipline to make up for lost experience.

All eyes now turn to Nationals in February, the focal point of the season. Hosted at the National Squash Center in Philadelphia, the event features dozens of courts and thousands of spectators, creating an atmosphere unlike any other competition. After months of demanding preparation and a strong regular season, the RCDS Boys Squash team is aiming not just to compete but to make program history.
