The Rye Country Day School Girls’ Varsity Soccer Team had an impressive season filled with determination and teamwork. Despite facing tough opponents, the Wildcats stayed resilient and earned many key wins that reflected their hard work and commitment. They finished the season strong with a 7-2 record, highlighted by an exciting win over St. Luke’s that showed their competitive spirit and how well they can perform under pressure.
Captains Nola Coady ‘26 and Caro Stronski ‘27 led the team with passion and focus, guiding their teammates through a fiery season. They had many impressive wins, including a 4-2 victory against Marymount School, a hard-fought 1-1 tie against Greenwich Country Day, and a 4-2 win against St. Luke’s. When asked about what makes the team special, one anonymous sophomore shared it was their “ability to stick together, work through difficult games, but also how much spirit we have.” Their resilient mindset became an important trait of the team, helping them stay positive.
When asked about one of her favorite moments of the season, player Giorgia Martorina ‘28 recalled, “Watching Stronski score a hat trick during an important game.” Martorina explained how that moment captured the team’s determination and spirit, as everyone came together to celebrate Stronski’s achievement. Another highlight of the season was senior day on October 21st, when they celebrated their six seniors: Nina Bortner, Lydia Sussman, Riley Freeman, Kayla Parameswaran, Claire Jiang, and Nola Coady The day was filled with emotion, pride, and kind words, honoring the seniors’ leadership and lasting impact on the team, and showing how connected the team is off the field.
Girls’ Varsity Soccer ended their season sooner than they had hoped to, with a 0-4 loss in the FAA (Fairchester Athletic Association) tournament against Greenwich Academy. Still, the Wildcats left the field with their heads held high. With the team’s strong sense of unity, they are already looking forward to their 2026-2027 season, confident they will return even stronger.
