Boys’ Soccer Season Comes to a Close

On November 4th, the Rye Country Day School Boys’ Varsity Soccer Team, led by Coach Alin Andrei, traveled to St. Luke’s with hopes of knocking off the higher seed. They fell just short of their goal. Regarding the 3-5 loss, Captain Richie Morrow ‘26 shared, “It was a great game. We had an up-and-down season, but I think we finished really strong. Getting a red and going down to 10 men early, but still being able to keep it a tight game, was really special. Coming back to tie the game 3-3 midway through the second was a feeling I will never forget.”

The loss in the FAA playoffs marked the end of the 2025 season for the team, who finished with a record of 3 wins, 9 losses, and 3 ties. The Wildcats scored an impressive 29 goals throughout the season. Additionally, of their 15 games, 9 ended in a difference of 3 or fewer goals, demonstrating the team’s resilience and grit against challenging opponents.

In a season marked by highs and lows, Morrow shared that his favorite moment came after the team’s regular season draw against St. Lukes. “Seeing everyone from the bench run onto the field and feeling the energy was something special.”

Morrow’s high hopes for the years ahead show that this team’s talent is only going to go up from here. “Every year it’s really interesting to see who steps up. Losing the seniors is definitely a blow to the program but I have a lot of hope for the younger guys. The junior class consists of some really solid players like Luke Werwaiss, Didi Lallemand, and Felipe Quintero Ochoa. The team will definitely be in good hands with them. As our young core grows up and gains experience, the program is only going to get better.”

Looking forward, this young and energetic group will continue to gain experience and build team chemistry. The 2026 Boys Varsity Soccer team is excited to tackle any new challenges that come their way and continue to work hard each and every day.
