Livin’ La Vida Nola

Whether she is volunteering at SET, running Community Meetings, teaching in the life skills classroom, or simply brightening your day, Nola Coady ‘26 is truly a force to be reckoned with.

Coady, the 25-26 school year’s student body class president, and 24-25 school year’s vice student body president, is an avid and dedicated member of the RCDS community. Coady says that working on student government (STUGO) is an extremely fulfilling opportunity allowing her to brainstorm exciting community meetings and activities while improving student life. When asked what they are currently planning Coady says that a homecoming dance is currently in the works.

Aside from STUGO, she is also a leader on the soccer field. As the captain of the Girls Varsity Soccer Team, Coady always makes sure to motivate her teammates and put forth her best effort in games and practices.  Reflecting on her experience, Coady shared, “I love the team culture and enthusiasm, and also our coaches, Coach Smith and Coach Booth.”

After completing the RCDS Spanish curriculum with AP Spanish in 10th grade, Coady decided to add Honors French II onto her already busy junior year workload. Coady says that she has always been a language lover, and is in the midst of doing her independent study on it.  Coady is working with Upper School Spanish teacher Mr. Cavanaugh for her independent study which focuses on Spanish literature.  She has read books like Cien Años de Soledad (100 Years of Solitude) by Gabriel García Márquez, Casa Spiritelor (The House of Spirits) by Isabel Allende, and Paula by Isabel Allende.  After reading the books, Nola then goes on to discuss and analyze them with Mr. Cavanaugh, looking for important themes and messages within the books.

When reflecting back on what has been her most meaningful activity/accomplishment at RCDS, Coady says that she has loved being a peer leader (and current head peer leader), as she truly enjoys teaching the life skills classes. Furthermore, Coady says that she appreciates getting to know the freshman and creating a fun class environment alongside her peer leadership partner, Nicholas Riley ‘27.

As Nola continues to lead the RCDS community, her dedication, enthusiasm, and genuine kindness continues to inspire those around
