As fall settles, Rye Country Day School’s fields are filled with activity, including the dynamic varsity boys’ soccer team. Boys’ soccer enters the season with endless energy and determination. After just a few weeks, the team has played two matches: a narrow 1-2 loss against Greens Farms Academy and a strong 4-1 win against Hamden Hall Country Day School.
Led by captains Richie Morrow ‘26, Caden Powers ‘26, Nate Dunlop ‘26, and Luke Werwaiss ‘27, this year’s team is a strong blend of fresh and familiar faces. With a mix of grade levels including seven seniors and twelve new additions,, boys’ varsity soccer brings new talent and enthusiasm along with seasoned and well-experienced players.
After preseason and their first few games, Morrow is optimistic about the new potential this year’s team brings. “We have a lot of young talent this year, so watching them develop throughout the season is definitely something me and the older players are excited about,” he said.. With a strong team foundation already built during preseason, the team is now focused on growing their individual skills and playing as one.
Looking ahead, boys’ soccer is looking forward to some of their more challenging rivalry games, while also aiming for a deep run in this year’s FAA playoffs. Morrow expressed his hopes for postseason, noting that “with the addition of a few new players, our midfield has improved noticeably, and we hope that can help us make it far in the FAA.” On another note, Morrow expressed his confidence in the team’s offense, saying, “we have a really strong attack full of experienced players.”
With many strong returning players and several talented newcomers, the Rye Country Day School Boys’ Varsity Soccer Team is looking to have a strong season. The Wildcats hope to continue their season with strong support from RCDS students, faculty, and families.
