The RCDS Varsity Girls Soccer team kicked off their season with intensity and confidence and continues to be consistent as the season reaches its halfway point before playoffs. From the first game of the season to now, girls varsity soccer has shown that this year is about teamwork, growth, and bringing energy to every play.
The team’s practices have greatly contributed to their success. Their captains, Caroline Stronski ‘27 and Nola Coady ‘26, emphasized that each session is a blend of focus and fun. Coady shared, “We have lots of fun while also being serious and having good intensity. We work a lot on our team shape as well as our press.” The combination of structure and spirit has paid off, as the team’s work on formation and pressing has translated into confident play on the field. “The things we’ve worked on, like our press on the other team’s defense and our shape on the field have been key,” said Coady. “We’ve also been doing possession drills in practice, which is translating positively into games.”
Even though the team has faced road blocks with hurt players, they overcame it and came back stronger. “Although we had injuries and sicknesses, we were still able to unify and come together as a team,” said Stronski. “Our main goal now is to regroup and finish the conference, so we can get a higher seed in the playoffs while continuing to play hard.”
With each match, the RCDS Girls Varsity Soccer team has demonstrated advancement and strong chemistry. Their record is 4 wins, 4 losses, and 3 tie games, and have had strong victories against Marymount, French American School, King, and Holy Child. Their momentum continues to build with every game. Coady reflected, “I feel like we’ve had a very strong start to the season, and we keep showing progress with each game. I’m proud that the team keeps bringing lots of energy.”
As the season moves forward, the team’s energy and cohesion are at an all time high. “I expect us to have a strong rest of our season,” said Coady. “I’m looking forward to playoffs!”
The varsity girls soccer team is set to begin FAA playoffs, and with their hardwork, dedication, and passion for the game, they are ready to meet the challenge head-on.
The excitement is only growing as the season heats up—so make sure to come out, cheer loud, and watch this talented team continue to rise!
