The Rye Country Day School Field Hockey team is on a roll with an impressive 7-2-1 record, proving that their hard work is paying off. From the very start of preseason, the team set the tone with intensity and focus, determined to build off last year’s success.
Preseason focused on building endurance and precision. Long conditioning runs, high-tempo passing drills, and scrimmages helped sharpen their skills and chemistry. “We really emphasized consistency and communication,” said Head Coach Summers. “Our season has been going exceptionally well—a combination of the athletes working hard and truly playing together.”
The team’s preparation quickly translated into results. The Wildcats opened their season with a strong win over Greenwich Country Day School, followed by key victories against Frederick Gunn School and Horace Mann School. Their one tie came from a close, hard-fought battle against Greens Farm Academy. Since then, the team has bounced back with dominant performances.
Coach Summers added, “I was so excited for the season. We have six very special seniors, and the culture they’ve established has created a perfect combination of focus and fun.” One of those seniors, Captain Clare Keating ‘26, reflected on the team’s progress, saying, “We’ve built such strong connections this year. Everyone has stepped up, and you can feel how badly we want it every time we play.”
With crucial upcoming postseason matchups, the Wildcats are focused on maintaining momentum and reaching their ultimate goal: winning NYSAIS.
