Girls volleyball is already making a strong impression both on and off the court this season. The 2025-2026 season marks Rye Country Day School’s fourth year having a volleyball team. Whether or not you have seen the team’s high energy levels and fun spirit days, get ready for a thrilling season full of excitement and Wildcat spirit.

Preseason, beginning on August 18th, was full of new beginnings as the team adjusted to a new coach, Coach Guilherme Lima (Coach G), and several new players. Varsity player Reese Morrow ‘28 commented that “the volleyball team during preseason worked hard to practice and work on the fundamentals of the sport as we got rid of the summer rust.”

Led by captains Lavender Kerridge ‘26, Chase Tucker ‘27, and Maleah Dunkley ‘27, the team officially started the season on August 28th with a game against Sacred Heart Greenwich. Reflecting on the team’s goals for this season, Kerridge ‘26 stated that they want “to have high energy plays and bring some spirit to RCDS.” However, the biggest challenge this season was “adjusting to a new coach–and he is amazing (shout out Coach G!), so we are working on unifying our team especially with new players on the roster.” When asked if she could describe this year’s team in three words, Kerridge chose “dedicated, hardworking, and ready,” which are all characteristics that point towards an exciting and promising season!

Looking ahead, the Wildcats have many games coming up, but they were especially excited for their game on September 19th against Fieldston at 4:30. “We are so excited for everyone to show up and show support,” Kerridge said. For the future, stay on the lookout for any upcoming volleyball games to support the RCDS Volleyball Team!
