Season Kickoff

By Lillian Pereira

Similar to many American schools, at Rye Country Day School, the sports team that ignites the biggest turnout to their games is the varsity football team, who has a big season ahead of them. The team has already had two wins against Fieldston and St. Lukes and is looking forward to five more games in the regular season.

This team, led by captains Hank Brown ‘27, Charlie Pearle ‘26, and Milin Torgalkar ‘26 has one goal in mind. Brown hopes “to give every game his all and be the part of the best team we can possibly be.” To achieve this goal, the football team spent pre-season—two weeks in August—refining their skills, learning new tricks, and, most importantly, figuring out how to work as a team. With ten new players on the team this year, pre-season provided an opportunity for players both new and old to learn what their biggest strengths were. “A lot of the young guys really stepped up and learned their roles. The older guys really led by their experience and talent to help the team succeed,” noted Brown.

Varsity football was able to showcase their talents and ability to work together in their Game of the Week against Fieldston, where they earned their second victory of the season. With many more games ahead of them, the football team continues to develop their skills and finish the season strong.
