Since the start of the season, Rye Country Day School’s Varsity Sailing Team has been determined to have a successful season. Led by Coach Clarkson and Captains Connor Rusch ‘25, Josh Greene ‘25, and Alice Rikkers ‘26, the team has been working hard to improve, and the results speak for themselves.
The team competed in the Fleet Race League Qualifier on March 29th, where they placed 4th overall. In addition to this, they competed in the SE Team Fleet Race League Qualifier on April 12th and earned another 4th place finish. On April 22, they participated in the NYISA SE Girls Fleet Race Qualifier and placed 5th.
Reflecting on their season, Rusch stated, “With the addition of new promising sailors to the team as well as remaining members from the strong squad from last year’s team, we have high hopes for how the rest of the season will go as we continue to bond as a team and sail fast.”
Coming up, the team is competing in the Ryan B. Mahoney Memorial Regatta on May 7. They also have the NY State Championship on May 17 and the Phoebe King Fleet Race Silver on May 31. Good luck to the Varsity Sailing Team for the rest of their season!
Go Wildcats!
