The Girls’ Golf team is off to a great season start, constantly seeking to improve and bringing optimism and joy to each practice. Despite having a smaller team this year, the team shrank from eight to six players, the team’s commitment to shine in matches and progress throughout the season is striking. This smaller community of golfers allows them to form a more bonded team, where everyone can have a role on the course.
Practices are key to the team’s success, allowing them to advance their skills while having fun. Player Mia Herz ‘26 said that practice was centered around “getting a sense of the course and practicing important parts of [their] game like putting and chipping.” She also added, “Since matches are so serious, we have fun during practice and mix up who we play against.” This balance between hard work and team bonding is key to the team’s success on the golf course.
Unfortunately, the weather has been against the team with rain and wind being present at many practices. The team has to stay on track, making sure to prepare for their upcoming matches despite the unwelcoming weather conditions. However, the team’s resilience and effort has paid off in their last matches with 2 wins and 1 loss.
Herz is optimistic about the end of the season as the team is composed of many strong players. She believes that the team will also dominate in the postseason tournaments. The two seniors and captains, Melanie Asness and Claire Yu, also drive the team forward, taking their roles as leaders in the team seriously.
The team is off to a great start, and we can’t wait to see the team continue to dominate on the golf course. Go Wildcats!
