This spring, the Rye Country Day School’s Boys Varsity Tennis Team has been gearing up for a thrilling and competitive season. In early March, the team went on an intensive training trip in Hilton Head, South Carolina, where they practiced for seven hours per day. Guided by Coach Shea, Coach Smith, and captains Darren Wong ‘26, Lincoln Feng ‘26, and Francisco Luz ‘25, the trip was about more than just sharpening their tennis skills; it was about bonding and forming friendships between teammates.
Reflecting on the experience, Wong shared, “One of my favorite memories from the trip was the nightly activities. They were a great way for us to connect with our teammates, and bonding with them while eating ice cream was definitely a highlight.”
The team’s Season Opener, against The Masters School on April 1, was an incredible victory for Rye Country Day, with a 4-3 final score. Now, the team is getting ready for their game on Friday, April 25, where they will face off against Rye High School, one of the team’s biggest rivals. The match begins at 3:30pm on our home courts, so students are encouraged to watch and support the team during Spring Wildcat Weekend!
Looking ahead, the team will take on Greenwich Country Day School on April 28 in their final home game of the season. They are traveling to Greens Farms Academy on May 2 and King School on May 8. Good luck to the Boys Varsity Tennis Team for the rest of their season.
Go Wildcats!
