As the snow melts, the Girls Varsity Ice Hockey Team is wrapping up a remarkable season of excitement, camaraderie, and resounding victories. Over the past 3 months, the team has worked tirelessly while making memories both on and off the ice. Team captains Julia Heintz ‘25 and Freya Collins ‘26 have led the team to victory several times with their leadership and dedication, guiding the girls to an impressive seven wins this season. Reflecting on the season, Collins points to the team’s 3-1 victory over Morristown Beard School as one of their most memorable moments, after suffering losses to them the past 2 years.
The team’s success this year can be attributed to the strong internal dynamic that spans across all grades. This year’s roster consists of several seasoned players, including two seniors, Ellie Block ‘25 and Heintz. The wealth of knowledge and experience on the team combined with the passion and skill of many talented underclassmen has made for an exciting season. “We have great chemistry, and we all connect really well on and off the ice,” Collins said, describing the team talking and laughing together. The bond between players plays a huge role in their achievements, allowing them to communicate and work together during both practice and games.
With the regular season coming to an end, the team is gearing up for playoff games, with the FAA semi-finals scheduled for February 26th. Fueled by strong spirit and unity, the Girls Varsity Ice Hockey Team is determined to carry this momentum into the postseason.
