As winter sets in, the RCDS Indoor Track and Field team is off to a phenomenal start. Over the past month, athletes have been training tirelessly, balancing workouts on campus, at the Underdome in Mount Vernon, at the Armory, and in the fitness center to ensure peak performance.
The team’s hard work is already paying off with some notable accomplishments. The girls’ 4×200 relay team has been dominant, consistently securing first-place finishes at nearly every meet. The girls’ 4×400 relay team secured a spot at the Millrose Games, one of the most celebrated and prestigious track meets. On top of that, Marshall Brown ‘28, Payton Richardson ‘28, and Ailey Denson ‘28 qualified for the New Balance Nationals, taking place on the third weekend of June in Philadelphia.
The Wildcats’ midseason success is a testament to the strong foundation they built at the start of the season. Under the leadership of captains Keira Zheng ‘25, Mary Grace Eubanks ‘25, Esaias Gonzalez ‘25, Joaquin Gonzalez ‘25, Rahul Arora ‘25, and Raihan Bhuiya ‘25, the team’s dedication has only grown stronger since their first meet at the Armory on December 4.
Reflecting on the season’s progress, Richardson shared, “I think the season is going really well. People have their ups and downs, but there is always room for improvement.”
With an impressive start, the Wildcats continue to push forward, building on their early successes and honing their skills for the challenges ahead. As the season progresses, the team remains focused on improving their performances, fostering team camaraderie, and achieving new milestones. With their dedication and resilience, the RCDS Indoor Track and Field team is set to make this season one to remember.
