The Girls Varsity Squash team is having an outstanding season, heading into the final weeks of winter with a record of 5-3. As the girls prepare for end-of-season celebrations and tournaments, it’s the perfect time to reflect on their success.
Captain Sophia Lynch ‘25 has been playing squash for six years, a sport she shares with her dad and sister, who often join her in friendly competition. Lynch’s favorite match of the season was against Nightingale. “They are similar to our playing style and pretty evenly matched,” Lynch shared. “The match was challenging, but that made the win even more satisfying because we all worked so hard for it.”
This season, the team aims to “do well at nationals and continue having a cohesive team without drama.” For Lynch, squash stands out because it’s a “pretty complicated game in the sense that you have to be very strategic about your moves, it’s not just about running fast,” which is what viewers have to recognize to fully appreciate it.
Congratulations to the Girls Varsity Squash team on a successful season so far, and we look forward to seeing what’s in store for them in the coming months!
