Girls Soccer Midseason Report

Written by Daphne Panie

The Girls Varsity Soccer Team (GVS) is off to an outstanding start so far and won’t stop anytime soon! Always seeking to improve during practices, the team aims to mix fun and competitiveness. Training alternates between short and sharp practices and recovery days after important games. The team’s performance has been solid this year. With a record of 10 wins and 1 tie, GVS is undefeated so far this season!

The team “has been able to combine [their] core returning group with fresh younger players very well,” says Captain Lily Smith ‘25. With people working very hard off and on the field and a collective effort toward a common goal, Captain Mary Grace Eubanks ‘25 believes that “we have a good shot at finishing at the top of our league.” This is testimony of the team’s unity and the players’ determination to work together, both of which are keys to the team’s success.

Every member of the team works tirelessly to contribute to every game which explains the team’s remarkable record this season. Every player is very proud of their combined performance and continues to play their best soccer during games.

In the upcoming weeks, the team has many important games, including FAAs against Greenwich Academy, King College, and Masters. Although these games promise to be tough as these schools are known for their strong athletics, the team “hope[s] to maintain [their] winning streak,” says Eubanks.

Considering this incredible start of the season, we can’t wait to see how the team will do in the future, with the hope of an undefeated season!
