The 2024 season is the third year of Varsity Volleyball at Rye Country Day School (RCDS), and the team has started off stronger than ever. Senior captains Autumn Tombline ‘25 and Gabriela Schlumberger ‘25 have an exciting season ahead of them, especially because the team has been victorious in their first two games. Schlumberger says she is “excited to keep working hard as a team and having fun. I think that the team’s depth and supportive coaches will lead us to a successful season.” The volleyball program has been quickly growing and gaining more attention, and there are now 16 girls on the varsity team this fall. The team has also gained the important addition of Junjun Li ‘26, their team manager.
After winning the first game of the season against Fieldston 3 sets to 1, the team continued their winning streak against Nightingale on Saturday, September 7th at their first home game of the season. They finished the game at 3 – 0 with a score of 25 – 16, 25 – 19, and 26 – 24 in the first, second, and third set respectively. The team has a promising season ahead of them, and with 17 more games in the season, students should come out and support the volleyball team!
