On the Path Towards Victory (Again!)

Written by Isa Pierry

Guess who’s back? The 13 year reigning champions of the NYSAIS tournament, the RCDS Field Hockey team!

Led by captains Julia Heintz ‘25, Dorel Dunkley ’25, and Clare Keating ’26, the Field Hockey team started off strong this pre-season, a clear indicator of what lies ahead as they seek to secure yet another state championship. Starting their season off strong playing against the Scarsdale Field Hockey team during preseason, they won 4-1. For the first time in years, they also had the opportunity to scrimmage a local rival, Rye High School. Although the Wildcats put in their all and held the game at 0-0 for the first three quarters, RHS was able to score two goals in the last couple minutes, coming out victorious.

J. Heintz is most looking forward to facing St. Lukes on September 17th because “it’s always a really competitive game, and we are evenly matched.” Heintz is also excited to play against Sacred Heart on October 16th because “their turf is challenging since it makes the ball move really fast.”

As the season progresses, Heintz hopes to see the team “really capitalize off corners and use them as a strong point of our offensive side of things.”

It’s looking to be an exciting season for the Field Hockey Wildcats and the team hopes students and faculty will come out to the fields to support them in games throughout the season.
