Men’s Soccer Preview

Written by Daphne Panie

Boys’ Varsity Soccer is very excited to be back for another fantastic season! Practices started in August, during preseason. The team focused on offense and defense, trying and combining different formations to determine the best one, and spent time in the gym to build strength and conditioning. The practices are now generally centered around passing drills, shooting and getting to know other players on the field, crucial to the team’s success on the field.

Since the beginning of the season, 4 games have been played, leaving the team with a general score of 2-2.The team played GCDS last Thursday, which was “a battle” according to Matt Jachman ’25. Unfortunately, there have been some slight injuries that might have happened during games or practice, but the team will not focus on that and will continue to move forward..

Jachman also emphasized the team’s dedication and desire to improve. “To prepare for the next game, no matter the opponent or last result, we focus on what we did well and what we can improve,” he said. He then added, “We know we can find success and are excited for the playoffs as well.”

There are more games coming up, such as Fieldston School on September 23rd, and against rival FAA teams, such as  Kings on October 5th. As the season begins, the hard work and dedication of the varsity soccer team will pay off.
