Wildcat Weekend 2023

Written by Mia Herz and Sophia Shen

Yet another successful Wildcat Weekend took place on Saturday, the 14th, with Wildcat wins for all five varsity teams. Boys Varsity Soccer kicked off the games, with a 7 – 1 win against Hamden Hall, and soon after, Girls Varsity Soccer followed suit with the same outcome against French American School. Girls Varsity Volleyball also had an auspicious start against the French American School starting the first set with a 12 – 0 lead and 2 aces and finished their game strong, winning 3 sets to none. Field hockey did not disappoint, winning 2 – 0 against Greenwich Country Day School, one of RCDS most prominent rivals. Lastly, Varsity Football finished the day off strong with a 30 – 0 win against Hopkins concluding the shut out for RCDS sports.

Though it was a rainy Saturday, yet again, students, parents, faculty, and alumni came to support RCDS’s clubs and enjoy the fall fair. Despite having the fall fair held indoors due to the poor weather, there was still a variety of fun activities such as slime making run by the Women in Science club, lacrosse shooting run by  One Love Club, and whack-a-mole by the Red Cross Club. Carnival food such as popcorn, cotton candy, and chips were being sold by girls peer mentoring and the 10th grade, and a burger food truck was stationed next to the south field.

To conclude the day, RCDS alumni who graduated in years ending with 3 and 8 rejoiced at an on campus reunion. To welcome them back, alumni were given a new campus tour, followed by a cocktail reception and dinner. The class of 1973 celebrated their 50th year reunion in the Klingenstein Library with food and drinks. The 2023 Wildcat Weekend was an overall success, and RCDS students and faculty are already anticipating next year’s.
