Marketing Team Announces New Content Plan

Julia Marrinan–

Over the past year, the RCDS marketing team has begun increasing the school’s social media presence; the RCDS instagram has become more active, and its content level has skyrocketed. The athletic department even has launched its own instagram account. Parents, students, and faculty, however, have begun complaining that there is still a lack of content from the marketing team.

In an Instagram post last Tuesday, the RCDS administration announced a plan to optimize classroom content: capture every possible moment of a student’s educational journey.

Starting next year, each Upper School class will have two adults in the classroom: one teacher and one photographer. “The marketing team is very excited to work in closer conjunction with the Upper School administration,” detailed the Instagram post. “The goal is to truly capture the spirit of the students– by recording their every move!”

Each Upper School class will get its own Instagram account as well, run by an entirely new staff of marketing professionals. At the beginning of the year, these media managers will have initial consultations with the teacher and students of their assigned class to discuss the direction of their social media presence.

The marketing team also announced an exciting new opportunity for Upper School photography students: an internship with the marketing office. Similar to those taking an independent study, students will work during their free blocks to photograph middle and lower schoolers. What better way to promote interdivisional learning and connection?

Each intern will be tasked with managing an Instagram account for their assigned task. Their final grade in the class will be assessed not only on their quality of content but its effectiveness in gaining followers and stimulating engagement. Interns will also be invited to host “takeovers” on the RCDS Instagram showing a day in the life of an RCDS student.

“Students could even document the sighting of those elusive Upper School rodents, if we’re lucky,” the post stated.

Photographers will also accompany these marketing interns to their middle and lower school classes to capture them in action.

“The marketing team is dedicated to sharing the true experience of the RCDS student,” concluded the instagram post. “With each year and each new advancement, we only get closer to replicating that through our content.”
