The Boys Basketball team, led by captains Henry Cohn ‘23, Andrew Cheigh ‘23, and Braden Bass ‘23 look to have a successful 2022-2023 season. Additionally, the team is also led by a new coach, Baptiste Bataille. Although the team had multiple key players graduate from last year’s senior class, Coach Bataille looks to have a successful season this year as the team’s new head coach.
Bataille, who has been an assistant coach for many years, is enthusiastic for this upcoming season, “especially coming out of Covid and being deprived of playing the game and competing. It will be great to get back into it with a normal season.” Additionally, he is very passionate and ready to have a great season, “We have the chance to be pretty good this year. We’ve got lots of good pieces and if we find a way to put it all together and maximize everyone’s potential then we will have a great season.” Bataille has been fortunate to coach alongside many great coaches in his career, but now he gets his shot to showcase all that he has learned as a head coach.
After being the number one seed in the NYSAIS tournament last year and losing in the second round, the team hopes to make it to the playoffs once again this year. Captain Cohn is set on having a successful season despite an unfortunate end to last year. Cohn said, “Even though we had a disappointing end to the season last year, it motivated us to work hard this offseason and focus on winning the championship this year.” Cole Denson ‘24 added that, “We have a bunch of young guys who have been practicing and ready to compete. The team has nothing but hope coming into this new season.” All together, the captains, the coaches, and the players, share one main goal this season: to win a championship for their team and for their school.
