Julia Kroin & Zoe Roth–
The girls basketball team, led by Coach Tombline, Coach Brinson, and captains Reina Thalheimer-Santamaria ‘23 and Jordan Roskind ‘23, begins its winter season on November 29 at 5:00 in the Scott A. Nelson Athletic Center. The team is eager to start the new season off with a bang, giving its fans a lot to look forward to. The team is coming off a tough year, but the majority of the team is returning players, which should allow for more success.
Brinson shared her goals for the team this year, covering topics from rivalries to hopes and expectations. When asked about any particular losses last year the team hopes to avenge, Brinson responded, “A tough loss to me—and I think the team would agree—was Holy Child. We competed with them in the first half of the game, but that second half—Holy Child, they came out with more energy, or intensity, and they took the victory.” She added, “It was a game we should have won, and we just kind of let it slip away.”
Brinson explained her goals for the team: “To come out with more energy, or togetherness—cohesion, and just play every game like it’s our last. Never give up, keep going ‘till the clock hits zero.” The captains support her thinking and have expressed excitement in following through. This inspiring message indicates a great season to come. Consider the bleachers full!
