Wildcat Weekend 2022

Allie Hine–

The biggest sports event of the fall season is quickly approaching and is packed with games and activities you don’t want to miss! There’s nothing like spirit to bring a community together, and students are looking forward to showing their full support for the teams this Wildcat Weekend. A prelude to Saturday, both the Girls JV Volleyball and JV Field Hockey teams will be taking on St. Luke’s. Boys JV Soccer will also be playing King. The big day, Saturday, October 22, will include five Varsity games: Volleyball, Girls Soccer, Boys Soccer, Field Hockey, and Football. Information about these games will be on the Rye Country Day App, Schoology, or the RCDS Website.

Alongside the sports games will be the Fall Fair, food trucks, and special activities planned by the Spirit Club. Booths at the Fall Fair, run by different student organizations from 11-1, help these clubs raise money. The booths’ games, prizes and contests are a fun and easy way to support the RCDS community off the fields. Student representatives from each grade will be running booths as well with food and refreshments.

The Spirit Club representatives have created an exciting spirit week in preparation for Saturday, including Pajama Day, Season Day, Zoom Day, and Throwback Thursday or Decades Day. Blue and Gold Day will finish off the week, the day of the annual pep rally. Additionally, gift cards will be given out each day to the student who shows the most spirit, and spirited Houses will also receive points toward the House Cup. Spirit Representative Avery Smith said she hopes “this year’s [pep rally] will be the best one yet!”
