Ava Herzog–
Mark your calendars for November 11th and 12th, this year’s Fall Play, Mermaid, is not one to miss! Mermaid turns the original fairy tale The Little Mermaid into a more modernized performance that has a lot of relevance to society today. The play, starring Ava Herzog ‘24 and M Bremer ‘23, tells the story of a young girl named Blue struggling to cope with her adolescence and maintaining relationships with her friends and family. She is able to escape from her life through an English class assignment in which she is tasked with recreating and modernizing a fairy tale. Mermaid depicts the contrast between the two worlds, above and below the water, where time and insecurities are nonexistent. Mr. Hogan and Ms. Henerey, the play’s co-directors, hope students, faculty, and other community members will come to see it! Mermaid will be performed in the Black Box theater on the 11th and 12th of November at 7:30 PM, with a dress rehearsal open to teachers on the 10th.
The role of Blue will be played by Herzog, with Bremer playing the Little Mermaid. Julia Eason ‘23 appears as the Mother of Blue and Grandmother of the Mermaids, accompanied by David Colin ‘24 as Blue’s Father. Carter Appleyard ‘23 will be playing the Prince, Sorin Alexander ‘24 the King, and Andrea Falcon ‘24 the Queen. Jane Saltz ‘24, Rosie Isiyel ‘24, and Xindi Liu ‘24 appear as the Mermaid sisters, Saltz also taking on the role of the Sea Witch. Colin, Heather Daum ‘24, Izzy Romita ‘24, and Artemis Lisker ‘26, will be playing ensemble roles as well.
Tickets will be available soon.
