Girl’s Varsity Field Hockey Preview

Morgan Daily–

The Girl’s Varsity Field Hockey Team has been hard at work, their efforts withstanding the demanding first two weeks of classes, and the team’s persistence paid off last week during their first two games.

On Monday September 12, GVFH played their first official game against Hamden Hall on Monday, September 12, Captain Reina Thalheimer-Santamaria ‘23 leading the team with three goals. Two more from Payton Caggiano ‘23 and Cameron Song ‘24 left the end score at 5-0.

On Wednesday, September 14th, the team traveled to New York City to face off against the Chapin School and, yet again, walked away with a 5-0 win. Thalheimer-Santamaria ended the game with another hat trick, the other two goals scored by Hadley Hart ‘23 and Zizi Hart ‘23. Zizi Hart scored the team’s final goal during a stroke, the equivalent of a one on one penalty shot. Varsity goalies Mak Blake ‘23 and Dylan Fenyes ‘26 accomplished not one, but two, amazing shutouts, truly holding the team together during these first two games.
