Julia Marrinan–
Two weeks back from March break and the RCDS students are hard at work. The week of April 4 had students thinking about the future with course selection– and staying in the present as the third quarter drew to a close.
Monday, April 4, was the first community meeting in the PAC. After pushing back this event due to the Omicron variant, students and faculty were glad to finally return to this space. Mr. Pollock and Maya Hirani, Student Body President, led a faculty versus student game of Family Feud.
Wednesday, April 6, saw a lengthened advisory period for students to discuss course selection next year with their advisors. Course selection is due April 19, so students should be sure to start getting signatures from any necessary teachers! Many forms for AP qualifications can be found on RCDS News, as well as information about offered courses that may not be on course selection sheets. Students also may need to sign up for classes on separate lists for the department, in addition to their course selection forms.
Today, April 8, marks the end of the third quarter, meaning the RCDS high school has gone 75% of the way. A special schedule will include shortened classes before lunch and special programming for 9th, 10th, and 11th graders afterwards. Seniors will be dismissed early. The programming will cycle through college counseling or course selection with the college counselors, a mental health check-in with the counselor team, and a town hall.
