Friday Recap 1/14/22

Julia Marrinan–

Stay warm, Wildcats! This week has been a chilly one, and forecasts for the long weekend predict more snow on Monday, January 17. Luckily, a pajama day to celebrate the end of the first semester will keep us all warm and cozy next Tuesday.

The first semester draws to a close today, January 14, as do all semester-long classes like electives and Honors English Seminars. There will be a special schedule today starting with the Martin Luther King Day Assembly. Although the assembly was meant to be in the PAC, plans have changed in accordance to the Omicron response and the assembly will be livestreamed over Zoom. Afterward, students will return to break and H block. Then, each class will cycle through a series of activities from 1:20-1:55, 2:00-2:35, and 2:40-3:15. Seniors will leave early at 2:40.

Students can expect their new schedules as the second semester begins. Drafts of the schedules were handed out this week, but the finalized copies will not be shared until next week, when comments will also be posted.

Another Omicron policy has been updated, and students who have tested positive for Covid can now return to school six days after the day they test positive. The return of these students is only permitted if they have been asymptomatic, and participation in activities outside of schoolwork and busing is not authorized. Similarly, students who are quarantined due to exposure are permitted “Day 6 return” if they are asymptomatic for the same amount of time.
